I recently caught up with Colonial Forge HS Junior, Jarrion Rodgers, who plays OLB/WR for the Eagles, in an exclusive one-on-one interview. Virginia Tech and Boston College have Jarrion Rodgers on their Recruiting Radar. Here is the exclusive interview with Jarrion Rodgers.

More Than a Game to Jarrion Rodgers

Analyzed Sports: Your team, the Colonial Forge Eagles, made it to the Elite 8 in the playoffs, what were some of the reasons for the success of the team this year?

Jarrion Rodgers:  Some reasons for the success of the team this year was the great group of seniors we had. Most of the seniors on the team had a lot of experience last year as juniors. I believe that’s what helped us in big games.

Analyzed Sports: You play for Coach Bill Brown, what is that like to play for such a legendary coach?

Jarrion Rodgers: It’s a great opportunity to play for Coach Brown. I’ve been under him for three years now and I’ve learned a lot.

Analyzed Sports: What are your plans for the off-season?

Jarrion Rodgers: My plans for the off-season are to get bigger and faster, and also to work out at the camps I will be attending over the spring and summer.

Analyzed Sports: Since you play OLB, what are some of the challenges that your defense faces on a zone blocking running scheme vs a regular running scheme?

Jarrion Rodgers: Some challenges our defense faces against different schemes is our discipline. Earlier in the season we struggled because of the different offenses we went against. Not sticking to our assignments is what caused us to lose some games.

Analyzed Sports: You are teammates with two players we have done stories on in Chris Rowe and Rohan Martin Jr., what is it like to have such good teammates on the team?

Jarrion Rodgers: It’s awesome to have such good teammates. I’ve played with Rohan and Chris since 6th grade. We’re all very close and I think that’s what helps us on the field.

Analyzed Sports: What colleges have offered you a scholarship to play at the next level?

Jarrion Rodgers: Right now I don’t have any offers but Virginia Tech and Boston College have interest in me.

Analyzed Sports: People know you are a gifted player on both sides of the ball, and sometimes that is only what people care about, tell us a little about what you like to do off-the-field like your hobbies and interests in life.

Jarrion Rodgers: Off the field I like to spend time with my family. My family is something that is very very important to me.

Analyzed Sports: Have you considered yet what field of study you would want to pursue in college or even a career field you want to pursue?

Jarrion Rodgers: When I get to college I’d like to study accounting and finance. If not that, some type of engineering.

Analyzed Sports: Do you have a pre-game music playlist that you like to listen to before each game? If yes, what is on that playlist?

Jarrion Rodgers: I like to listen to a lot of Chief Keef and Jay-Z before games to get focused

Analyzed Sports: Who is one linebacker that you would love to play in the trenches with in a game?

Jarrion Rodgers: I would love to play with Ray Lewis. He’s someone that I’ve always wanted to be like.

Analyzed Sports: What does football mean to you?

Jarrion Rodgers: Football means everything to me. It’s created bonds and friendships with my teammates that will never be broken. It’s more than just a game to me.
