Team USA Final Roster Revealed

After defeating Puerto Rico 112-86 in an exhibition game in Madison Square Gardens Friday night, Team USAB announced its final 12 man roster in a news release Saturday morning.   Demar Rozan, Andre’ Drummond, Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Kenneth Faried, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Klay Thompson, Rudy Gay, and Mason Plumlee made the final cut.

Team USA Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski stated: “I’m excited about the 12 players selected and feel we have excellent versatility and the making of a really good defensive team.”

August 29th is the deadline to have the final 12 man roster submitted for the World Cup.  Winning the Gold medal will be a tall task for this young squad without of the likes of Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Durant.  This group of guys will have to come together early and rely on being great defensively if it wants to have a chance at winning the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.

Team USA will head overseas for one more tune up game Tuesday against Slovenia, before beginning FIBA World Cup play on Saturday August 30th against Finland.

Damian Lillard, Gordon Hayward, Chandler Parsons, and Kyle Korver were the last cuts made before the last 12 were selected.
